Stuart Joyce started working for Cotswold Archaeology in 2005 as an Archaeologist and has also worked as a Project Supervisor before being promoted to Project Officer.
What does your job involve?
Running sites; from small Watching Briefs and Evaluations to larger Excavations, writing typescript reports and publications.
How did you get into Archaeology?
I studied it at University. I never planned on being an Archaeologist when I finished then I did some fieldwork and really liked it and decidedĀ it was what I wanted to do!
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy the digging and I guess seeing the site as a whole, drawing it all together and unravelling its history.
What are your main areas of interest in Archaeology?
Pre-history; mostly the Iron Age but recently I have been getting really interested in medieval ecclesiastical archaeology. The project at Blackfriars in Bristol has really sparked my interest.
What CD are you currently listening to in your car?
Tim Buckley.
